As more and more meetings and conferences are moved to the virtual space because of epidemics, a virtual meeting assistant is being created in Lithuania. It is planned that the tool developed by Tilde IT and based on artificial intelligence, will significantly simplify the organization of meetings and conferences. It will cover the entire meeting cycle, from agreement on the date to conclusion, as well as reports on the work done. Over EUR 800,000 will be invested in this solution.

Meetings “eat up” 12 hours a week

According to various studies, meetings on average take up about 15% of the total time of employees, while a person working in organizations on average spends about 12 hours a week preparing for and attending meetings.

“Most of those working in organizations encounter the problem of how much time and resources it takes to prepare for a meeting: agreeing on the time that is suitable for all participants, finding a free room or space, adhering to the rules and procedures during the meeting, then preparing a protocol or summary, sending and registering agreements to participants and monitoring compliance. …

During the last two decades, the global pharmaceutical industry has experienced significant growth — worldwide pharma revenues in 2019 reached 1.25 trillion U.S. dollars. To maintain competitiveness and secure better results, companies must focus on two indicators: speed and innovation. A mix of human and machine translation can offer both.

The volume of translation needed for a single drug or product can amount to millions of pages that need to be translated into dozens of languages. This can no longer be done by human translators alone, as it would take years to complete the task. Machine translation can considerably accelerate the process.

Challenges in the pharmaceutical translation process

These days, almost every translation agency or language service provider has its network of freelance translators. But how can this relationship best work to keep all involved happy?

The rise of freelancing

It wasn’t so long ago that freelancing was frowned upon by many people in 9–5 employment. But, times change and, as the working world continues to evolve, more and more people are choosing to freelance over traditional full-time job roles. There are risks and negatives with this career choice and lifestyle but many freelancers will argue that not being bound by the subjective norms of ‘normal employment’ gives them a sense of freedom and personal autonomy over their lives that aren’t possible in traditional full-time employment.

It also enables them to work on several different projects at the same time…

Gaming and e-sports are global, and, although the unifying language tends to be English, localizing your game for specific markets can have profound effects.

Understanding your players’ needs is the single most important element of designing a successful game. Strangely, for many game makers, this stops with the game processes, however, the games that become bestsellers, go one step further.

Choosing to translate or even better, localize your game not only makes sense for the users, but it also makes great business sense. It also helps you to address different cultures and the varying content and censorship laws that each country or region may have. Without understanding these rules, your game may never even reach your players’ consoles.

Every game developer wants to make their game more engaging, and it’s predicted that during 2020 consumers will have collectively spent around 674 billion hours on mobile devices, downloading and playing games. …

Subtitles are an essential part of accessibility

Access to information is an essential factor in the quality of life of each individual. For people with a hearing impairment, the only possibility to access information is through sign language or subtitles; but there is the drawback — they are not always available, and are especially rare for the smaller, complex languages. Inese Immure, The Vice-President of the Latvian Association of the Deaf, explains:

“Unfortunately, the majority of cultural events are unavailable to people with hearing loss, but luckily AI-powered technologies can improve the terms for those individuals to take part in society.”

The European language technology innovator Tilde launches a revolutionary Dynamic Learning technology for machine translation. Tilde MT Dynamic Learning picks up human corrections in real-time, thus significantly boosting the quality of machine translation. This novel technology was made possible thanks to the break-through research of the award-winning Tilde research team.

Dynamic Learning leverages Neural MT with translation-memory-like technology. However, unlike translation memory, which only provides translation suggestions from the previously translated text, dynamic learning NMT engines examine the full context of the entire text to provide smarter, more accurate and context-specific suggestions based on previous edits.

When machine translation emerged as a powerful tool for translators, the quality gap between the general and custom MT systems was a notable problem for language service providers. Often, generic systems did not provide the degree of accuracy or terminology required for domain or client-specific translations. And developing custom MT engines for each customer…
